Wedding: Payin and Mary-Jane

Well, what can I say about Payin and Mary-Jane’s wedding. it was a day filled with colour, smiles, laughter, love and to top it all off, a little bit of dancing.

We had a great time on our engagement shoot but the wedding was something else.

We did a photobooth idea for this wedding which was something a little new for us so we have got two slideshows for you today. We thought we would split the main album and the photo booth to make each slideshow a little more manageable.

A special thank you needs to go out to MJ’s bridesmaids, they were so helpful throughout the day and helped us through the group shots. Without you guys I think we would still be out there trying to find the people we needed for each shot. Thanks.

Sneak Peak: Chris & Debbie Harrington Wedding

Here’s a sneak peak at the photographs from Chris and Debbie Harrington’s Wedding on the weekend. We shot at Woodlands Manor, in Clapham, which will be the 2nd wedding in as many weeks there. Engagement Shoot: Chris and Debbie

Just had our Engagment shoot for Chris and Debbie. We had a lovely time down in Richmond Park near where they live. We think this wedding is going to be a fun one. We love our engagement shoots, they really allow us to get to know our couples before their wedding days. We get a bit more of a glimpse of their real personality . They are toying with the idea of doing a jive dance for their first dance. Can’t wait!

Wedding: Hannah and Nathan

So we gave you a sneak peak at the favours from this wedding so here are some more. We had a great time with Nathan and Hannah, we are pretty sure it wont be the last time we work with them as they go ahead with their wedding shop. We’ll blog about it when they are up and running, but i am sure it will be a great shop, with Hannah’s style i think there is no doubt!

When Clients become friends

Often as a wedding photographer you are regarded hired help, which is fine because, well, we are. But every now and then we get treated like guests, like friends. With Nathan and Hannah it has been just like that. We had a great time getting to know them before the wedding. Particularly during our engagement shoot with them and it has just been a pleasure to work with them. When we turned up at the reception we were rather pleasantly surprised to find that we actually had seats during the wedding breakfast! Normally we get to grab a bite to eat in the kitchens or something (and we are happy with that) but on this occasion we were sitting with the rest of the grown ups. Hannah did a great job with the decoration and the favours were no exception! We’ll blog the rest of the wedding later.

Here are a couple of shots from a recent engagment shoot. They are having their reception at Woodland Manor which is a lovely little place just outside Bedford. We might try out a new thing at their wedding (new to us anyway): some kind of outdoor photo booth thingy. Not entirely sure how it will work out yet but we think it will be a lot of fun.

Engagement: Hannah & Nathan Beahan, Crazy in Love!

We were down by the embankment in Bedford for Nathan and Hannah’s engagment shoot having a much needed ice cream and we were talking about “their story”. Hannah dismissed it as not being particularly noteworthy but then told us about it. It was anything but un-noteworthy (probably not a word sorry). These two are brilliantly crazy, hence our “crazy in love” title. ”We weren’t like this until we met eachother” Hannah told us. After just a few weeks of knowing eachother Hannah had moved in and they planned to have children together and a year later they are to be married, oh and they are in the middle of buying a wedding shop as we sepak too! They have a beautiful baby girl called Caitlin (who has managed to get into a few of the engagment shots) who Ben and I simply adored so didn’t mind having to babysit while Mum & Dad were having their photos done. An engagment shoot which turned into a family portrait. We loved it. Can’t wait for the wedding, the reception is at The Bedford Golf Course. We are hoping to hire some golf buggies and have some fun with them!

In the deep dark tunnel

A friend of ours told us about a disused railway tunnel and after he’d described it we knew we needed to shoot it. For some reason we chose a cold cold cold night for our first visit. The approach was a little sketchy and we were pretty close to injuring ourselves a couple of times. After a few near missed we found it and crawled through the small gap at the mouth of the tunnel.

We were greeted by “dark”. I don’t just mean it was dark down there, I mean that the darkness was tangible somehow, you almost felt like if you reached out and grabbed you would actually be able to touch it, it was incredible. Light from our torches was swallowed up somehow by the thick darkness.

Ok I think you get the point, it was pretty dark?!

Shooting in complete darkness has its challenges, the main being you can’t see what you are pointing your camera at until you have taken the photo you see it on the back of your camera. It was so interesting what we found once we had done our lighting. We didn’t do a great job of hiding one of the lights in the middle but I thought I would leave it in anyway.

Below is a shot with Tom (a willing assistant on the night). Excuse the quality of this one, it was just a test shot. I quite like the grainy quality on this one at times though.

This was an idea that we didn’t quite pull of but we were trying to play around with some reflections in some water that had collected down there.

Here was one of our final shots. We really like it. The textures on the brickwork is amazing down there. We definately plan to go back there and take some more shots. Maybe when its a bit warmer though.

Portrait: Phoo and Boo

When Nicole’s (my wife) best friend asked me to photograph her kids, I knew this one was going to a fun one because Aimee, their oldest is a right little poser/wannabe diva :-) and she lived up to her reputation. So who’s Phoo and Boo? Aimee was affectionately called Aimee Boo from pretty much the start of her life and they had to follow suit with Phoebe and with only one syllable as the requirement “phoo” was adopted. In between Phoebe wrecking our studio and Aimee going to the toilet (Diva :-)) we got some great shot of the two of them. We also cracked out Bella’s Christmas/Birthday present from Tim, the mini armchair, it rocks!
